  1. I had a few years ago a similar idea. I bought the 1/72 Entrpise drawings and bulkhead set, but never realized the project. It‘s nice to follow your build.
  2. Welcome on board, Rich and a lot of fun during your next build.

  4. Hello Eric, congratulations for finishing this beautiful model of Cheerful. It was me a great pleasure to follow your build over the last years. What comes next?
  5. Next I cut the notches and some recesses (which helps to sand the parts) in the prepared stern parts. The only drawback of the mill is that it doesn't produce inside corners with a square edge. So you have to invest some extra work. Therefore I normally use my Proxxon mill. After milling the notches for the rudder hinges were sanded. In the next step I glued the prepared stern and the deadwood together. Then I sanded the parts. After this I glued the whole ensemble to the keel. Now It was time to sand the rabbet at the end of the keel to get a smooth transition to the deadwood. To reach this step was a really log journey. The stern and the after deadwood are my biggest challenge and I am very happy that I've overcome them.
  6. Welkom to DDM, Peter. It will be nice to see some of your card ships on DDM

  8. After a long break it's time to continue with my log. Before I can start gluing all prepared parts together, I have to build the stern. It looks quite simple, because it consists of only two straight parts. But it has to take the shape of the aft. deadwood and the precision of this parts are important for the symmetrie of the stern. First I milled both parts. The recesses I will need milling the glued parts next weekend. To cut some two further recesses I prepared a small jig, to hold the inner post. The next picture shows the test fit from the earlier prepared deadwood with the inner post. It's not really visible, but with the symmetrie of the fit I am really happy. At the end I glued the two parts together. The small part from scrap helps to fit the parts. Now the parts have one week toy dry and then comes the last step.
  9. Lower Deck Plan This is the last drawing I have finished until now. The basis of the arrangement are the drawing of HMS Boston (1762), the drawing of an unnamed 60gun-ship (1745) and the entries in the Shipbuilders Repository and EPNA.
  10. Keel Plan To start a model in the future I drew the parts of the keel, the stem and other parts of the backbone of HMS Triton. The procedure was actually the same as always, look up what my literature gives in measurements, verify the values using the original drawing and then implement them in the plan. The joint over the steps of the fore deadwood is not absolutely necessary, because you won't see any of it on the finished model; however, it makes the whole construction easier to build. If you look at the rabbet on the stem, you will see that the joint is not situated on the inner edge of the timber. This detail is also shown on the original drawing and I haven't seen this before.
  11. It's like visiting an old friend, if I see the pictures of your little lady. Really wonderful work.
  12. Adam, I have used mainly the deck plans and the sheer line. For the check of the body plan with horizontal and buttock lines I use splines. At the begin of this lines you need an extra construction point to find the correct shape. It's important that the buttock and horizontal lines match at the point . In the meantime I use this instead of extra body lines.
  13. Your drawings are fantastic. After my change fro Windows to MacOS I also use QCad and I am very happy with the program. Have you planned to build a model of this big lady?
  14. Disposition of Frames For my reconstruction I followed mostly the original design. I thought a long time if "Shipbuilders Repository"[SR] or "The Element and Practice of Naval Architecture"[EPNA] is the right choice for the work. Lastly I followed EPNA, because more details of the drawings have the same measurement. The drawing shows the 3 thick frames at station 0. This is very special for the Revised Mermaid-Class. I didn't see this on any other DOF drawings
