Hampton Roads Ship Model Society

The Hampton Roads Ship Model Society (HRSMS), founded in 1967, brings together individuals who share a passion for ship modeling and maritime history. Our mission is to provide a friendly and welcoming environment where members can share ideas, develop new skills, and enjoy the hobby together.

Our membership includes modelers of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels, from those building their very first model to nationally recognized, award-winning modelers. Members pursue a wide variety of interests, including historical research, scratch and kit building, radio-controlled models, and highly detailed scale reproductions. Members have built models that are displayed in museums throughout the United States, reflecting the exceptional talent and craftsmanship found within our Society.

HRSMS publishes a monthly newsletter, The Logbook, and meets on the second Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m. at The Mariners’ Museum in Newport News, Virginia, with a Zoom option available for those who cannot attend in person.
