I would like to save my posts to my own computer, just in case they ever disappear online. But when I try saving as PDF or choose Print and then save as a PDF, it does not include any images other than the ones on the first couple of posts. Is there an easy way to save an entire page of postings in DDM, including the images?

Its actually pretty easy, although it will save everything on each page of posts. Including all replies. But you can edit those out later if you like.

Here is how if you are using Chrome. Other browsers have similar features.

Click on the three dots in Chrome at the upper right. Then select "PRINT" from the menu. the print dialog box then appears.

In the print dialog box usually under destination....select "save to PDF", rather than send to a printer. See below.

Then hit save and when it prompts you select where on your PC you want to save it.

Thats it. Then you can can go to the next page in your build log if its a long build log and repeat. You will now have two pdf docs for each page of texts. They can of course be combined into one large PDF if you have the full version of Acrobat reader or other similar tools.

That is where you can edit out any parts you dont want to save for posterity..... Member Replies etc.

Thanks, Chuck. I may be that I am using Safari rather than Chrome, which sometimes doesn't play well with some websites. I'll try Chrome and see what happens.

This is on my Mac Safari.

Another method to save individual posts within a thread . . .

I tried the exporting to a PDF route using the Chrome Print-to-PDF feature per the above instructions, but I found that content near the ends of the webpage tended to get clipped or otherwise scrambled. Another problem is that the selection content is limited to whole pages only, so you may get parts of another post included within the Print range.

Totally by accident, I discovered that if you select all the content in a post by starting at the top line of a post and dragging the selection (left-click in Windows) to the final line—no matter how many pages are involved—then right-click (Windows) on an open space not part of the selection, where you can save the content as a pdf or print it as a pdf as desired, and all the content and formatting is saved in the document exactly as displayed on the monitor (whereas the previous method tries to rearrange images for some reason).

Any linked attachments have to be saved separately.

PDF exports done by Chrome and Safari out of the box (with no extensions installed) are not good - indeed, some text is garbled, pictures are split, etc. Better than nothing, but not perfect.

I find a better result with a simple "Save page" feature of Chrome:

"Complete" would create an html file + a directory with all the pictures.

"Single file" would do the same, but as one big file of "mhtml" type. It can be opened by most browsers, but not by Safari.

In both cases nothing is corrupted, the page looks exactly the same. Nothing is being split into "pages".

Note: before saving - scroll through the entire page of the log to make sure all photos are loaded. The photos lower down on the page are loaded on demand, while scrolling, so if you save without it - a lot of pictures would be missing.
