I have all ready get started so no pictures from the beginning.

Today i closed the hull and did some sanding.

So much sanding that there was a hole in the hull.

New planks on it and i close the gap 🙂

Tomorrow i will post some pictures.

For now one picture to show you how she should look when she is finished 🤪

Here are the first pictures of the hull

The second picture shows you the “bandage” of planks 😁

I have started to sand the other side but the temp. (Just like the rest in Europe) is to high to do something in the afternoon so i have to slow down.

I only need to plank the sides of the stern all way up.

I’m waiting with that because someone is going to help me with some light.

Normally there is space behind the stern but not with this one.

So we have to figure out what to do……

After 2 days in the morning busy with sandpaper it is done 🤪

She is now ready for the second layer and i have planked the deck and glue some gratings in it.

The manual has a strange sequence.

They want me to put railings on it before the second planking and before install the keel…..

There should be a reason for it but i can not find it.

So next thing for me to do is install the keel.

But first the pictures.

Keel is in place.

Also two skeg ( if that is the right word for it) in place.

At the small deck at the bow ,two doors, 4 (i think) windows or ventilation openings ,canon hatches and steps to go to the upper deck are glued.

Second layer of Planck’s are on it.

The seconds planck’s are 0.5 mm thick so carefully sanding was the message.

Now i have a nice hull to paint.

The whole hull should be painted so you don’t see any wood anymore.

Also the wires for the lantarens and quarter galleries are done

Next thing to do is the template for the portholes and gun ports.

I have been studying the manual on line and watched a build on youtube. It seems, Artesania Latina suggests going back and forth on planking, railing, decking to prevent planking fatigue. It almost seems to me, the model was designed for monthly subscription since DeAgostini does things similar.

I would not attach a 0.5mm thick railing before the sanding of the hull no mater how much easier it is at that time.

I am well known to break off any parts that are hard to replace.

That is a nice smooth layer of planking!

The gun ports and portholes on the port side are cutting out.

Now i have to go to the starboard to do the same thing.

And a question.

By every model with cannons that i have build, de sils are painted red.

But when i take a look at the drawing ,here the sils are blanc.

What is the best thing to do?

Paint them red or keep them blanc?

If you look at the Wikipedia site about the SR, there is a painting of the stern from 1693 and also a contemporary model...but there is it a bit harder to see. In the painting they look blanc indeed. But i'm not an expert in the slightest on this subject. Maybe someone with some knowledge can chime in.

All the gun ports and port holes are cut out.

Also placed the bulwarks.

Now the great paint job get starting…
