'Oseberg' Viking Ship (v3) by Jim H - Ships of Pavel Nikitin - 1:25

It's been a little while since I worked on this one. In fact, I think I put it away before I started HMS Surprise.

This is the current state of play. Please ignore the bowed deck boards. They can and will lie flat, and I haven't even placed them into their specific locations here as they are all unique to their position. They all need antiquing too. For the moment, I'll continue this with making up the individual storage chests/deats, boarding planks and other bits and pieces. Here's some new images of where I'm at.

A delightful looking model, Jim.

I seriously wish I could generate this level of model photography. Cool model. Thanks to Norway in the World Cup I now here ‘ROW’ in my head when I see anything Viking related.

Glenn

If at first you fail, try again, and then again ...

A gorgeous design that's been catching my eye for a long time! Thanks for sharing.

I have had that one on my mind for a year now. Looks amazing, also very big.
How would you comment on the build in general, is it more like assembly or more like building?

If i check whats in the box then it seems similar setup as Master Korabel where everything is precut and more assembly.

It's a lovely kit to build. It doesn't just drop together though, so you need to think out each plank as you add it. There's some shaping of parts, such as the laminated mast fish, and the keel is make from two layers of timber that needed a little juggling for best fit match....but externally, they are also sheathed in excellent fitting timber. Not a beginner's kit at all.

Tnx, maybe that will be the one to build. Then the average level of build would drop a lot 😃

Either way, love the build!
