Saturday at 11:30 PM4 days Hello everyoneMy name is Alessandro and I live in the port city of Livorno, Italia.I had started this build in February 2024 and posted a work in progress of the HMS Indefatigable on the old MSW forum and I am now presenting it here with a few updates compared to where I left off. At the moment, I am focusing on the gun deck, where I begun laying the first deck planks, starting from amidships.Unfortunately, I cannot proceed further with the build right now due to a broken arm, which will prevent me from working on the model for the coming weeks. Nevertheless, I am using this time to study and prepare a planking layout for the gun deck, based on my interpretation of the rules found in contemporary naval architecture texts and an analysis of the original drawings. I hope to resume work as soon as possible... being stuck at home all day without being able to model is absolute torture for a ship modeler!that's all for now. Cheers! Alessandro
Sunday at 07:09 AM4 days Great to see another Indy builder on board.Your white hull looks so clean and smart. I'm looking forwards to how it's going to look with the rest painted. It's interesting to see how everyone approaches the colour schemes to their own taste. I hope your arm heals quickly and you can get back to your build. We're at similar stages at this one, and it's always helpful to compare notes as we make progress!
Sunday at 08:46 AM4 days Lovely build so far! And I like the white hull too, it gives an whole different vibe to it. Looking forward for updates...get well soon 🙂 Build log of the HMS SphinxYoutube | Instagram
Sunday at 10:10 AM4 days Looks great. I don't think I've seen an Indy done with a white hull before. I personally prefer that look to copper plating so it's neat to see it at this scale 🙂 Current Builds: HM Gun Brig Adder - 1797, Duchess of Kingston - 1778Completed Builds: HM Armed Cutter Sherbourne, HMS Beagle, Polaris
Sunday at 10:34 AM4 days Author Thank you for your interest. The white primer (Mr Surfacer 1000) applied to the hull serves two purposes: it highlights any deformations or imperfections in the finish of the curves, and it fulfills an aesthetic function as I work better and feel more motivated when what I am building is pleasing to the eye, even while the work is in progress. Naturally, at a later stage, the model will be copper-sheathed as it was historically made...😉
Sunday at 04:08 PM4 days Beautiful work, Alex. As @Mowzer said, I hope your arm heals rapidly and you can get back to the shipyard. PSMS Member: www.philadelphiashipmodelsociety.comASMA Member: www.americansocietyofmarineartists.comInstagram: www.instagram.com/modelshipdood/
