January 27 2020 Forward bulkhead elements glued up.

January 28 2020 test fitting bulkhead section.

February 2 2020 Hinges and lock fitted. Working lock will be detailed in a separate thread.

February 10 2020 detail of lock and strike plate.

February 6 2021 Beginning to design the galley and map desk areas. A decision to change the steps has been made as well.

February 9 2021 The ability to work on the interior out side of the boat has proven to be most useful.

February 11 2021 The cushions went through a couple of different iterations first a red flannel type covering then a red vinyl finally the turquoise was chosen.

February 11 2021 Sequence for the cushions, some high density black cellular foam was used for the inside. with some pine sheet for the backer board.

February 11 2021 The awl was used to prick the holes for the buttons which were made from half inch estuchion pins.

February 11 2021 The pins were hammered through the pine plate by placing the cushion on a sheet of insulating foam.

February 11 2021 The protruding pins were snipped off.

February 16 2021 The buttons were painted with a matching colour.

Continuing on with the interior.

January 14 2020 I wanted to have the interior look a bit more luxurious than the clear soft hue of the Yellow Cedar, and turned to a piece of the Sugar Maple log I had received from Nova Scotia in 1973 which had sat outside in the rain behind my old commercial workshop for a few years and begun to spalt.

January 14 2020 Because the wood was basically air dried when I cut it into larger billets and stored the wood in the loft of the old workshop, when retrieving some of this wood years later I was able to cut it easily and it did not warp at all.

January 14 2020 using the table-saw sled to cut the half-laps across a piece that was going to become the rails of the interior paneling. The stiles were cut the same way.

January 14 2020 Test assembly of one of the side panel upper half.

January 14 2020 the slot for the panels was cut using my micro adjustment saw fence adapter and zero insert with a hollow ground fine tooth blade.

January 15 2020 test fitting the panels.

January 15 2020 realizing I had cut too many slots some had to be filled back for the upper cupboard doors.

January 15 2020 the panels finished up well and looked superior to the Cedar.

January 15 2020 Final gluing of the interior side panels.

January 16 2020 Hinges, see hinge thread re making hinges.

January 17 2020 Hinges fitted.

January 25 2020 Laying out the forward bulkhead paneling structure.

During 2020 I had mostly realized that the prospects of sailing this model move farther away from practicality although not gone completely, I began working on the interior in earnest.

January 3 2020 I began with using some still card to measure clearances.

January 3 2020 the first design for the steps down

January 5 2020 I used my guide for thickness planing the boards for working many of the pieces of wood in the cabin with the styrene guides on each side the plane will only cut to 1 inch scale thickness, and by adding layers of paper or card under the wood I can control the thickness to many thinner increments.

January 6 2020 and by wedging the wood on its edge they can be planed as well.

January 6 2020 The floor boards ready for gluing up.

January 6 2020 I was able to lift out the interior elements to work more easily on the bench top.

January 7 2020 It was now useful to work out dimensions using the drawing programs,

January 7 2020 cutting out the slots for the first steps.

Thanks so much everyone for the warm welcome.
I am/was very pleased with the way Resolution was going. I had got well into the rigging, had actually started ratlining ( note the 2 ratlines in the picture ), when an unfortunate ( aren't they all?) accident broke the topmast.

I have since made a little progress getting things back to normal, but struggling with my time allocation right now.
I will work on a log here later, but I lost a lot of stuff.

I really try to avoid paint. I have a thing for the look of natural wood. Some may find fault with the " out of scale " grain", so it's a good thing I'm not building my models to please them..😁

Remember when I stated that "You'll know when and where to use the thin CA glue?" This is a perfect example! Here you can see the shadow of a portion of a plank lifting away from its bulkhead, due to a lack of CA gel. I didn't notice this until I put the model in a different light and started looking things over. That offending plank needs to be pushed back down, into its proper place, and have a bit of thin CA glue wicked into the seams between the adjacent planks, otherwise this can definitely cause issues during the 'second' planking where things need to be pristine!
