Wooden kits for kids

@Mike Y Have you seen any of the wooden kits by Shipyard? They normally make paper kits, but they have made a kit of HMS Rattlesnake 1776 (Cutter) that has laser cut planking that might be similar to what you are looking for.

I am actually planning to leave the bottom uncovered so this unfortunately is not really an option.

Just by way of an update I have started work on the fix using a method similar to what David suggested. It does seem to be working and I will post more details when I have something to show.

A great activity for kids ! Model Shipways has launched an educational line called the 'Shipwright Learning Series', which consists of three kits designed by David Antscherl. In order of difficulty, they are: a Lowell Grand Banks Dory, a Norwegian Sailing Pram, and finally a Muscongus Bay Lobster Smack. And it seems to me that Dusek will soon be importing Model Shipways kits.
I hope you'll receive many more suggestions and that you'll be able to find the right model.

I glued on two strakes of the second layer of spireketting and also began gluing the second layer of supports for the upper deck beams

Wooden kits for kids

My youngest is growing up and wants to build her own model. She successfully completed the Midwest Dinghy boat kit, and now wants her Real Ship 😊 Somehow she is also really bothered by the fact that this Dinghy is a generic one and has no name! The Ship must have a name, says the Little Admiral 🤗

I have a great experience with Master Korabel kit that we've build with the oldest daughter, key feature is the pre-spiled planking (both 1st and 2nd layer), so it is actually realistic for a kid to plank the hull with basic guidance. See the photos in the end.
However these kits are not available anymore, as well as "youngest does not want to build the same ship as her sister's" 😅

I scrolled through other manufacturers and could not find anything similar...
Let's collect recommendations for any modern wood kit that is relatively kit friendly, with pre-spiled planking being a very important factor (but not a must). Some anecdotical evidence from other colleagues would be nice!
