Hi. In fact, every case is different and there is no single, universal solution when it comes to correctly lofting ship hull surfaces in 3D. Furthermore, it also depends to a large extent on the specific 3D software.
Be that as it may, a fairly effective, general method for lofting satisfactory surfaces in more challenging cases is to loft not the entire surface in one go, but in longitudinal strips. Usually, two such strips per side are sufficient for the underwater section of the hull, but particularly tricky cases require more strips, or even splitting them transversely. However, this is a method that I can – and sometimes even have to – use in Rhino 3D, which is the programme I use, and I’m not sure whether it will work in all other programmes of this type.
It’s best to illustrate this visually with a suitable example, as written explanations are particularly ineffective in this specific context, and hopefully there will be an opportunity to do so in one of my upcoming projects of this kind.
